No matter how they actually feel about it, many women wouldn’t dare go out of the house without makeup on. It doesn’t have to be a lot of makeup. Most are fine with some “natural” makeup that covers up their facial blemishes and makes their skin tone look more even. In fact, many people don’t even notice that they are wearing makeup at all.

Beauty Tips and Tricks

Yet it feels like a shield against the world. Makeup is supposed to be fun and a tool for a woman in her wardrobe arsenal. What ends up happening, however, is that she usually feels like she can’t be seen without it. Even if it means just using cover-up and blush, there is a lot of expectation in this world for a woman to wear makeup wherever she goes.

The choice to go without makeup even for a day is a big one. Some women naturally have never worn it in their lives and have no interest to. Others are making the decision to start going without makeup to make a political statement. Others more are concerned about the health of their skin. Regardless of your reason, one thing remains for sure: just because you’re not wearing makeup doesn’t mean you don’t want to look good.

Luckily there are plenty of beauty tips and tricks to utilize if you plan to go without makeup. Contrary to popular belief, the woman who doesn’t wear makeup isn’t hideous at all. Sure, your friends and family may notice a stark difference at first, but over time they will gradually get used to it. Just like they got used to your face with makeup on.

Let’s get started with some of the most basic tips and tricks.

Keep Your Skin Clean

Going without makeup means the whole world is going to see your skin for what it is. Before, you may have been covering up blemishes, acne, dark circles, and other things that you felt detracted from your appearance.

It’s important for you to keep your skin clean. This means washing it regularly, at least once a day. (Be careful to not wash it too much, as you do need to keep some good oils in your skin.) The cleanser you use is also important. Do not use regular bar or body soap, as the skin on your face is the most sensitive on your body and those soaps are usually too abrasive. You should invest in a cleanser that is specifically for the face. Use as directed, usually once a day.

If you’re making the switch from a lot of makeup, you will notice that your skin will change dramatically. What you thought was naturally oily and unblemished skin may have actually been the result of wearing too much makeup. After you let your skin breathe and clean for a few days, it may start clearing up on its own.

Clean skin also means that you are less likely to break out in zits. The point is to not only keep dirt out but oils that clog up your pores as well.

If you don’t want the attention to be on your face, then you need to find a way to distract from it. This is especially true if you’re making a transition from lots of makeup. Think of it as an opportunity to experiment with your hair and accessories!

If you don’t want people to stare at your makeup-less face, do not pull your hair back. Instead, find a way to style hair that frames your face beautifully or enhances your appearance on its own. These framings are especially good for people who have round, long, and square faces. Curls are common but don’t be afraid to experiment with waves and even going totally straight. Bobs are fun and flirty.

Jewelry is another way to add some pizzazz to your face. One great way to do this is to try facial piercings, like in your nose or in your eyebrow. Of course, you may not want to make that attempt. Instead, there will be more interested in what they can do with earrings.

A beautiful pair of earrings will add sparkle and color to your face while also accentuating your outfit. Dangling earrings especially will give other people something to focus on when they look at your face. Just be cautious if you have an especially short neck. Ideally your earrings should not be scraping your shoulders.

Necklaces are another thing to use. Women with long necks look beautiful with large, chunky necklaces that are loud and colorful and sparkle a lot. If you have a short neck, however, you’re better off with a simple chain and pendant or colorful choker that adds to your outfit. Combined with great hair and a beautiful pair of earrings, hardly anyone will notice that you’re not wearing makeup at all.

A woman who exudes confidence while walking around without makeup will hardly call attention to the fact that she isn’t wearing any. People will be more likely to notice her smile, her mannerisms, and the way she carries herself. This is an easy thing to do if you’re used to going without makeup. But for a woman who has known nothing else, this can be daunting.

Yet if you call attention to the fact that you’re not wearing makeup and view it as a negative thing, then other people will too. Instead, it’s better to just get on with your life and realize that there will always be people who think you should do something different with your appearance. You can’t please everyone. However, you can try to please yourself.

Our main beauty tips and tricks for going without makeup in a world that often expects it comes in three parts. The first is to make sure that your skin stays healthy and clean. Wash it regularly with a cleanser that is meant to go on your face. Second, learn how to style your hair and accessorize with jewelry in a way that becomes your own style. Now, mix those two things together with a healthy attitude, and even people who realize you’re not wearing makeup won’t care at all.
